I have tripped over an interesting "classification" of demons which I would like to summarise briefly.
The base for this thread is here: http://forum.otherkinphenomena.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=70
It is said that every demon has a part of every "category" in itself and can’t be assigned only to one special "job". You could see this classification maybe rather than a description of traits which can change their priority any time by every demon.
- - Companion / protector: These are demons which stand beside other living beings (mostly witches) as a friend or confidant.
- Teacher: Extreme care will be recommended with them because they are often cheats (alleged).
- Observer / guard: They observe humans or other living beings, merely to understand them.
- Devil: This name is used above all for cruel demons and other creatures whose favorite employment consists in tormenting other beings.
- Dreamwalker: These demons force into dreams of other beings. Succubi and Incubi also belong to this "category".
- Fallen angels: It will be remarked that every angel must decide for himself whether he would like to "define" himself as angel or demon.
- Vampire demons: These demons primarily live on the energy of other living beings. Often they are specified on a certain form of energy, for example Fear-Eater live on fear.
- Shadows: Not to mistake for the shadows under otherkins. Shadow demons are mostly seen only in the corner of the eye, they rarely come in contact with people.
- Shapeshifter: These demons can change their shape, as well as their behaviour and energy pattern.
- Trickster: These are demons, which are playing pranks to other beings. They also can damage their "target" substantially.
What do think about this "classification"?
Do you know other demonical traits?
Do you have experiences with demons and if so, does this "character description" fit the real situation?

it's important to note that i am not a fan of demon subtypes, simply because 1. you can't put a demon into exactly one category, 2. no matter how many categories you create, you can't cover them all, 3. demons change over times, so do their "categories", "jobs", and "alignments". so these subtypes are merely a list of suggestions for those who prefer to work with labels.
