When should we tell anyone what we are?

There are relationships between otherkin and humans in which it’s not obligatory to tell the other one what you are, respectively it actually wouldn’t be advantageous.

But what would be, if you have a relationship with somebody who hasn’t heard anything from otherkin, or even with a long lasting friend?
